Apple products almost never go on sale. It's not what Apple does. They don't do promotions or door-busters or bogo. Except on Black Friday, when they have their only sale of the year, which is a grand 10% off.
They didn't announce the sale ahead of time, so it was a mostly word-of-mouth affair. However, if you had bought a computer in the previous week, you could come in with your receipt and get the discount on Black Friday. I think that's nice; there's no requirement that a company does this.
Brad had someone come in yesterday (i.e. 5 days after Black Friday) and want the discount for a computer he bought almost two weeks previously. Not only is it a slightly ridiculous expectation, Brad couldn't have given him a discount even if he wanted to. Their computer systems aren't set up to allow the employees to do things like that.
So after he told him that, no, the company policy was to give the discount on Black Friday and only Black Friday, the man told Brad that he was just a corporate shill, "like the ones the Occupy Wall Street protesters are talking about. You are the 1%!"
Ummm, dude? Someone who's working retail probably does not have an income that would place them in the top 1% of wage-earners in the US. Also, confused and vague as their message is, I'm pretty sure the Occupy protestors are not protesting their lack of discounts.
Seriously, people.
